Support Worker roles in Ringwood
Support Worker roles in Ringwood cover a lot of ground: supported living, mental health services, learning disability support and community teams. Protocol Healthcare Services places people on agency shifts and in permanent posts across all of it.
Where you would be based in Ringwood
Royal Bournemouth Hospital is the hospital local teams work alongside, and the homes and services around Poulner and Kingston draw staff from the same pool. University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust runs services locally, with Hampshire County Council commissioning the social care alongside them.
Most placements are in Poulner, Hightown and Kingston, with regular work further out at Bickerley, Crow and Hangersley. Postings run through BH24, including out at St Leonards.
What the role involves
- ✓ Positive behaviour support and de-escalation, with training provided
- ✓ Medication prompting and support appropriate to your training
- ✓ Accurate notes and clear communication with the wider team
- ✓ Supporting people with daily routines and personal care where needed
- ✓ Encouraging independence, choice and everyday decision making
- ✓ Supporting people to access work, education, activities and their community
Hours, shifts and contracts
Days, nights and weekends are all available, full time or part time. Someone covering Crow on earlies and Hangersley on nights is an ordinary week here. The aim is ongoing work in settings you already know, not a different address every week between Poulner and Ashley Heath.
Some people stay on agency indefinitely; others use a few months around Kingston to find the right permanent home. Both are fine.
Who we are looking for
- ✓Patience, resilience and respect for the people you support
- ✓Good communication skills
- ✓Experience in mental health or learning disability support is desirable, not essential
- ✓An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
- ✓The right to work in the UK
Why people stay with us
You get one consultant who knows your registration, your patch and which Hampshire services you have already worked in. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Ringwood itself, which we would rather say plainly.
Verwood, Ferndown and Christchurch are close enough that plenty of our people work across them and Ringwood both.
Let us know your hours and how far you will travel from Poulner, and we will do the rest. There are immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Call 020 8951 4510 or use the contact form.
