Who writes them
The guides are written by Jim Muriithi Nyagah, founder of Protocol Healthcare Services Ltd, drawing on around a decade running a home care and healthcare staffing company. Every guide carries a named author rather than being published anonymously.
Where the information comes from
Factual claims about entitlements, funding thresholds, regulation and clinical subjects are sourced from primary UK authorities rather than secondary summaries. In practice that means the NHS, NICE, GOV.UK, the Care Quality Commission, Care Inspectorate Wales, the Care Inspectorate in Scotland, RQIA in Northern Ireland, the Nursing and Midwifery Council, Skills for Care, and established charities such as Age UK, Carers UK and the Alzheimer's Society. Sources are linked in the text so you can check them yourself.
What these guides are not
They are general information, not personal advice. They are not clinically reviewed, and they are not a substitute for guidance from a GP, district nurse, dietitian, hospital team, social worker or financial adviser who knows the individual. Where a guide touches on a clinical subject, it describes what a service involves and directs you to the appropriate professional. Any instruction from the person's own care or clinical team takes precedence over anything written here.
Accuracy and updates
Funding thresholds, benefit rates and regulatory guidance change. Each guide shows its publication date. Where a figure is time-sensitive we link to the official page carrying the current number rather than restating it, so the source stays authoritative even if this page ages.
