About Us

Leading healthcare staffing solutions across the UK

Protocol Healthcare Services runs two closely related services from the same team. For individuals and families we arrange care at home – live-in, visiting, respite, dementia and private nursing. For care providers and NHS trusts we supply qualified staff on temporary and permanent contracts. With offices in London and Bournemouth, we've been connecting qualified professionals with the people who need them for over a decade.

We supply staff across nursing homes, residential care, supported living, mental health, learning disability and community health sectors. Rigorous recruitment, training and development processes ensure only the highest calibre staff.

Protocol Healthcare Services Ltd is a UK-registered company (Companies House no. 10093384), incorporated in 2016. We are an FSB member and affiliated with the Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC).

“At the heart of everything we do is a passion for care, compassion, and making a difference, one home, one family, one life at a time.”Jim Muriithi Nyagah, Founder

Our Clinical Standards

The standards behind every professional we place

We don't publish personal profiles of our nurses and care staff. What we can tell you is exactly what every clinical professional must satisfy before they work with you, and how those standards are kept current.

NMC Registration

Every nurse and midwife we place is registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council, and we verify that registration is current before any placement.

Enhanced DBS & Right to Work

Enhanced DBS checks, identity and right-to-work verification and references are completed for everyone we place.

Mandatory Training

Full induction plus mandatory training covering safeguarding, moving and handling, medication support and infection prevention, refreshed in line with current standards.

Supervision & Competence

Ongoing supervision and competency review keep clinical skills and safeguarding knowledge up to date, with our consultants available for support around the clock.

Our recruitment consultants can talk you through the checks, training records and registration evidence we hold for any professional we place. Get in touch and we'll be happy to share them.

Regulation

How care at home is regulated in the UK

Regulation is the clearest way to check any care provider, including us. Here is how it works, and how to look anyone up in a couple of minutes.

Personal care delivered in someone's own home is a regulated activity across the UK, but each nation has its own regulator and its own public register:

  • England – the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Search any provider at cqc.org.uk.
  • Wales – Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW).
  • Scotland – the Care Inspectorate.
  • Northern Ireland – the Regulation and Quality Improvement Authority (RQIA).

A register entry tells you which activities a provider is registered for, which locations are covered, and whether an inspection has taken place. Not every registered service has been inspected, and the absence of a published rating is not the same as a poor one – it is always worth asking a provider directly where they stand and what they can evidence.

Nurses are regulated separately. Every registered nurse holds an NMC PIN and must revalidate every three years; you can check any nurse's registration on the NMC public register. We verify NMC registration before placement and re-check it throughout, as set out in our clinical standards above.

Who holds regulatory responsibility depends on how the care is arranged, and it is a fair question to ask any provider before you commit. If you are unsure which applies to your situation, ask us and we will explain it plainly rather than leave you guessing.

We are happy to walk you through our own registration position and evidence – get in touch and ask.
