Support Worker roles in Verwood
Support Worker roles in Verwood cover a lot of ground: supported living, mental health services, learning disability support and community teams. Protocol Healthcare Services places people on agency shifts and in permanent posts across all of it.
Where the work is in Verwood
Royal Bournemouth Hospital is the hospital local teams work alongside, and the homes and services around Town Centre and Church Hill draw staff from the same pool. University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust runs services locally, with Dorset Council commissioning the social care alongside them.
Most placements are in Town Centre, Newtown and Church Hill, with regular work further out at Dewlands Common, Dewlands North and Claylake. Postings run through BH31, including out at Romford.
The job day to day
- ✓ Supporting people with daily routines and personal care where needed
- ✓ Encouraging independence, choice and everyday decision making
- ✓ Supporting people to access work, education, activities and their community
- ✓ Positive behaviour support and de-escalation, with training provided
- ✓ Medication prompting and support appropriate to your training
- ✓ Accurate notes and clear communication with the wider team
When you would work
Days, nights and weekends are all available, full time or part time. Someone covering Dewlands North on earlies and Claylake on nights is an ordinary week here. The aim is ongoing work in settings you already know, not a different address every week between Town Centre and Stephen's Castle.
Some people stay on agency indefinitely; others use a few months around Church Hill to find the right permanent home. Both are fine.
Before you apply
- ✓An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
- ✓The right to work in the UK
- ✓Patience, resilience and respect for the people you support
- ✓Good communication skills
- ✓Experience in mental health or learning disability support is desirable, not essential
Working with Protocol
You get one consultant who knows your registration, your patch and which Dorset services you have already worked in. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Verwood itself, which we would rather say plainly.
Ringwood, Ferndown and Wimborne are close enough that plenty of our people work across them and Verwood both.
Let us know your hours and how far you will travel from Town Centre, and we will do the rest. There are immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Call 020 8951 4510 or use the contact form.
