Support Worker roles in Poole

Protocol Healthcare Services recruits Support Workers in and around Poole for mental health services, learning disability support and community settings. The work is about helping people live the life they want, with as much independence as possible.

Where you would be based in Poole

Work comes up near Poole Old Town, Poole Quay and Parkstone, much of it within reach of Poole Hospital. Between University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust and Poole Council, most of what we staff around Lower Parkstone sits under one of the two.

Shifts land right across the patch: Poole Old Town, Poole Quay and Parkstone one week, Lower Parkstone, Upper Parkstone and Branksome the next. If you are based around BH12 or BH17, you are inside the area we cover most heavily.

What the role involves

  • Accurate notes and clear communication with the wider team
  • Supporting people with daily routines and personal care where needed
  • Encouraging independence, choice and everyday decision making
  • Supporting people to access work, education, activities and their community
  • Positive behaviour support and de-escalation, with training provided
  • Medication prompting and support appropriate to your training

Hours, shifts and contracts

Full-time and part-time patterns both work. If Branksome is easier for you to reach than Canford Cliffs, say so and the rota follows it. Once you are established we keep the work regular rather than sporadic, usually in the same two or three services around Canford Cliffs.

We recruit for temporary and permanent posts. Trying several settings between Poole Old Town and Lower Parkstone first tends to make the permanent choice obvious.

Who we are looking for

  • The right to work in the UK
  • Patience, resilience and respect for the people you support
  • Good communication skills
  • Experience in mental health or learning disability support is desirable, not essential
  • An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange

Why people stay with us

We are a two-office team, not a call centre. The person booking your Dorset shifts knows which settings suit you. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Poole itself, which we would rather say plainly.

If you can travel, there is steady work in Wareham, Wimborne and Ferndown as well, and many people cover two of those alongside Poole.

Tell us which parts of Dorset you can reach and we will match you to what is open. There are immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Call 020 8951 4510 or use the contact form.
