Where you would be based in Wimborne
Work comes up near Wimborne Town Centre, Merley and Colehill, much of it within reach of Victoria Hospital. Between Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust and Dorset Council, most of what we staff around Leigh sits under one of the two.
Shifts land right across the patch: Wimborne Town Centre, Merley and Colehill one week, Leigh, Oakley and Pilford the next. If you are based around BH21 or BH21, you are inside the area we cover most heavily.
What the role involves
- ✓ Accurate notes and clear communication with the wider team
- ✓ Supporting people with daily routines and personal care where needed
- ✓ Encouraging independence, choice and everyday decision making
- ✓ Supporting people to access work, education, activities and their community
- ✓ Positive behaviour support and de-escalation, with training provided
- ✓ Medication prompting and support appropriate to your training
Hours, shifts and contracts
Full-time and part-time patterns both work. If Pilford is easier for you to reach than Furzehill, say so and the rota follows it. Once you are established we keep the work regular rather than sporadic, usually in the same two or three services around Furzehill.
We recruit for temporary and permanent posts. Trying several settings between Wimborne Town Centre and Leigh first tends to make the permanent choice obvious.
Who we are looking for
- ✓Experience in mental health or learning disability support is desirable, not essential
- ✓An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange

We are a two-office team, not a call centre. The person booking your Dorset shifts knows which settings suit you. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Wimborne itself, which we would rather say plainly.
If you can travel, there is steady work in Ferndown, Poole and Verwood as well, and many people cover two of those alongside Wimborne.
