Nurse roles in Wimborne

If you are an NMC-registered nurse living in or near Wimborne, we would like to hear from you. Protocol Healthcare Services supplies nurses to community and healthcare settings across the UK, on temporary contracts, permanent contracts, or a mix of the two while you work out what suits.

Where the work is in Wimborne

Victoria Hospital is the hospital local teams work alongside, and the homes and services around Wimborne Town Centre and Colehill draw staff from the same pool. Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust runs services locally, with Dorset Council commissioning the social care alongside them.

Most placements are in Wimborne Town Centre, Merley and Colehill, with regular work further out at Leigh, Oakley and Pilford. Postings run through BH21, including out at Canford Magna.

The job day to day

  • Assessing, planning and reviewing care for the people you look after
  • Medication administration and clinical observations
  • Wound care, catheter care and other clinical tasks within your competence
  • Working alongside GPs, district nurses and multidisciplinary teams
  • Supporting and supervising care and support staff on shift
  • Accurate record keeping and handover

When you would work

Days, nights and weekends are all available, full time or part time. Someone covering Oakley on earlies and Pilford on nights is an ordinary week here. The aim is ongoing work in settings you already know, not a different address every week between Wimborne Town Centre and Furzehill.

Some people stay on agency indefinitely; others use a few months around Colehill to find the right permanent home. Both are fine.

Before you apply

  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
  • The right to work in the UK
  • Excellent clinical and communication skills
  • Experience in community, elderly or end-of-life care is desirable, but not essential
  • An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange

Working with Protocol

You get one consultant who knows your registration, your patch and which Dorset services you have already worked in. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Wimborne itself, which we would rather say plainly.

Ferndown, Poole and Verwood are close enough that plenty of our people work across them and Wimborne both.

Let us know your hours and how far you will travel from Wimborne Town Centre, and we will do the rest. There are immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Call 020 8951 4510 or use the contact form.
