Support Worker roles in Basingstoke

Protocol Healthcare Services recruits Support Workers in and around Basingstoke for mental health services, learning disability support and community settings. The work is about helping people live the life they want, with as much independence as possible.

Working around Basingstoke

Work comes up near Chineham, Old Basing and Brighton Hill, much of it within reach of North Hampshire Hospital. Between Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Hampshire County Council, most of what we staff around Popley sits under one of the two.

Shifts land right across the patch: Chineham, Old Basing and Brighton Hill one week, Popley, South Ham and Buckskin the next. If you are based around RG21 or RG22, you are inside the area we cover most heavily.

A typical shift

  • Supporting people to access work, education, activities and their community
  • Positive behaviour support and de-escalation, with training provided
  • Medication prompting and support appropriate to your training
  • Accurate notes and clear communication with the wider team
  • Supporting people with daily routines and personal care where needed
  • Encouraging independence, choice and everyday decision making

Shifts and contracts

Full-time and part-time patterns both work. If Buckskin is easier for you to reach than Kempshott, say so and the rota follows it. Once you are established we keep the work regular rather than sporadic, usually in the same two or three services around Kempshott.

We recruit for temporary and permanent posts. Trying several settings between Chineham and Popley first tends to make the permanent choice obvious.

What you will need

  • An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
  • The right to work in the UK
  • Patience, resilience and respect for the people you support
  • Good communication skills
  • Experience in mental health or learning disability support is desirable, not essential

How we work with you

We are a two-office team, not a call centre. The person booking your Hampshire shifts knows which settings suit you. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Basingstoke itself, which we would rather say plainly.

If you can travel, there is steady work in Reading, Aldershot and Winchester as well, and many people cover two of those alongside Basingstoke.

Tell us which parts of Hampshire you can reach and we will match you to what is open. There are immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Call 020 8951 4510 or use the contact form.
