Support Worker roles in Guildford

Protocol Healthcare Services recruits Support Workers in and around Guildford for mental health services, learning disability support and community settings. The work is about helping people live the life they want, with as much independence as possible.

Working around Guildford

Work comes up near Stoughton, Onslow Village and Merrow, much of it within reach of The Royal Surrey County Hospital. Between Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust and Surrey County Council, most of what we staff around Burpham sits under one of the two.

Shifts land right across the patch: Stoughton, Onslow Village and Merrow one week, Burpham, Shalford and Bellfields the next. If you are based around GU1 or GU2, you are inside the area we cover most heavily.

A typical shift

  • Supporting people to access work, education, activities and their community
  • Positive behaviour support and de-escalation, with training provided
  • Medication prompting and support appropriate to your training
  • Accurate notes and clear communication with the wider team
  • Supporting people with daily routines and personal care where needed
  • Encouraging independence, choice and everyday decision making

Shifts and contracts

Full-time and part-time patterns both work. If Bellfields is easier for you to reach than Park Barn, say so and the rota follows it. Once you are established we keep the work regular rather than sporadic, usually in the same two or three services around Park Barn.

We recruit for temporary and permanent posts. Trying several settings between Stoughton and Burpham first tends to make the permanent choice obvious.

What you will need

  • Experience in mental health or learning disability support is desirable, not essential
  • An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
  • The right to work in the UK
  • Patience, resilience and respect for the people you support
  • Good communication skills

How we work with you

We are a two-office team, not a call centre. The person booking your Surrey shifts knows which settings suit you. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Guildford itself, which we would rather say plainly.

If you can travel, there is steady work in Woking, Aldershot and Bracknell as well, and many people cover two of those alongside Guildford.

Tell us which parts of Surrey you can reach and we will match you to what is open. There are immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Call 020 8951 4510 or use the contact form.
