Where you would be based in Sunderland
Work comes up near Roker, Seaburn and Fulwell, much of it within reach of Sunderland Royal Hospital. Between Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust and Sunderland City Council, most of what we staff around Monkwearmouth sits under one of the two.
Shifts land right across the patch: Roker, Seaburn and Fulwell one week, Monkwearmouth, Southwick and Hendon the next. Tyne and Wear is well within the area we cover.
What the role involves
- ✓ Accurate record keeping and handover
- ✓ Assessing, planning and reviewing care for the people you look after
- ✓ Medication administration and clinical observations
- ✓ Wound care, catheter care and other clinical tasks within your competence
- ✓ Working alongside GPs, district nurses and multidisciplinary teams
- ✓ Supporting and supervising care and support staff on shift
Hours, shifts and contracts
Full-time and part-time patterns both work. If Hendon is easier for you to reach than Ryhope, say so and the rota follows it. Once you are established we keep the work regular rather than sporadic, usually in the same two or three services around Ryhope.
We recruit for temporary and permanent posts. Trying several settings between Roker and Monkwearmouth first tends to make the permanent choice obvious.
Who we are looking for
- ✓Experience in community, elderly or end-of-life care is desirable, but not essential
- ✓An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
- ✓Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
- ✓The right to work in the UK
- ✓Excellent clinical and communication skills

We are a two-office team, not a call centre. The person booking your Tyne and Wear shifts knows which settings suit you. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Sunderland itself, which we would rather say plainly.
If you can travel, there is steady work in South Shields, Gateshead and Newcastle upon Tyne as well, and many people cover two of those alongside Sunderland.
