We place nurses on both agency and permanent contracts, so whether you want to pick up shifts around other commitments or move into a settled post, there is a route for you.
Where you would be based in Gateshead
Work comes up near Low Fell, Felling and Bensham, much of it within reach of Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Between Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust and Gateshead Council, most of what we staff around Dunston sits under one of the two.
Shifts land right across the patch: Low Fell, Felling and Bensham one week, Dunston, Whickham and Blaydon the next. If you are based around NE8 or NE9, you are inside the area we cover most heavily.
What the role involves
- ✓ Accurate record keeping and handover
- ✓ Assessing, planning and reviewing care for the people you look after
- ✓ Medication administration and clinical observations
- ✓ Wound care, catheter care and other clinical tasks within your competence
- ✓ Working alongside GPs, district nurses and multidisciplinary teams
- ✓ Supporting and supervising care and support staff on shift
Hours, shifts and contracts
Full-time and part-time patterns both work. If Blaydon is easier for you to reach than Ryton, say so and the rota follows it. Once you are established we keep the work regular rather than sporadic, usually in the same two or three services around Ryton.
We recruit for temporary and permanent posts. Trying several settings between Low Fell and Dunston first tends to make the permanent choice obvious.
Who we are looking for
- ✓Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
- ✓The right to work in the UK
- ✓Excellent clinical and communication skills
- ✓Experience in community, elderly or end-of-life care is desirable, but not essential
- ✓An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange

We are a two-office team, not a call centre. The person booking your Tyne and Wear shifts knows which settings suit you. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Gateshead itself, which we would rather say plainly.
If you can travel, there is steady work in Newcastle upon Tyne, South Shields and Sunderland as well, and many people cover two of those alongside Gateshead.
