Care Home roles in Gateshead
Care home work in Gateshead suits people who want to know the people they look after rather than meet someone new every day. Protocol Healthcare Services fills shifts and permanent posts in nursing and residential settings, for nurses and for care staff alike.
Gateshead and the area we cover
Queen Elizabeth Hospital is the hospital local teams work alongside, and the homes and services around Low Fell and Bensham draw staff from the same pool. Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust runs services locally, with Gateshead Council commissioning the social care alongside them.
Most placements are in Low Fell, Felling and Bensham, with regular work further out at Dunston, Whickham and Blaydon. Postings run through NE8, NE9 and NE10, including out at Birtley.
What you would be doing
- ✓ Medication support appropriate to your role and training
- ✓ Activities, companionship and keeping families informed
- ✓ Clear record keeping and handover between shifts
- ✓ Personal care, washing, dressing and continence support
- ✓ Supporting residents at mealtimes and with nutrition
- ✓ Mobility support and safe moving and handling
Shifts, and how they are booked
Days, nights and weekends are all available, full time or part time. Someone covering Whickham on earlies and Blaydon on nights is an ordinary week here. The aim is ongoing work in settings you already know, not a different address every week between Low Fell and Ryton.
Some people stay on agency indefinitely; others use a few months around Bensham to find the right permanent home. Both are fine.
What we look for
- ✓The right to work in the UK
- ✓Reliability and a genuinely person-centred approach
- ✓NMC registration if you are applying for a Registered Nurse post
- ✓Previous care home experience is helpful but not always required
- ✓An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
What we do for you
You get one consultant who knows your registration, your patch and which Tyne and Wear services you have already worked in. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Gateshead itself, which we would rather say plainly.
Newcastle upon Tyne, South Shields and Sunderland are close enough that plenty of our people work across them and Gateshead both.
Let us know your hours and how far you will travel from Low Fell, and we will do the rest. There are immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Call 020 8951 4510 or use the contact form.
