Care Home roles in Newcastle upon Tyne
Protocol Healthcare Services recruits for nursing and residential homes in and around Newcastle upon Tyne, covering everything from a single shift to a permanent contract. We place Registered Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, senior carers and support staff.
Where you would be based in Newcastle upon Tyne
Work comes up near Jesmond, Gosforth and Heaton, much of it within reach of Royal Victoria Infirmary. Between Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Newcastle City Council, most of what we staff around Byker sits under one of the two.
Shifts land right across the patch: Jesmond, Gosforth and Heaton one week, Byker, Fenham and Benwell the next. If you are based around NE1 or NE7, you are inside the area we cover most heavily.
What the role involves
- ✓ Clear record keeping and handover between shifts
- ✓ Personal care, washing, dressing and continence support
- ✓ Supporting residents at mealtimes and with nutrition
- ✓ Mobility support and safe moving and handling
- ✓ Medication support appropriate to your role and training
- ✓ Activities, companionship and keeping families informed
Hours, shifts and contracts
Full-time and part-time patterns both work. If Benwell is easier for you to reach than Elswick, say so and the rota follows it. Once you are established we keep the work regular rather than sporadic, usually in the same two or three services around Elswick.
We recruit for temporary and permanent posts. Trying several settings between Jesmond and Byker first tends to make the permanent choice obvious.
Who we are looking for
- ✓The right to work in the UK
- ✓Reliability and a genuinely person-centred approach
- ✓NMC registration if you are applying for a Registered Nurse post
- ✓Previous care home experience is helpful but not always required
- ✓An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
Why people stay with us
We are a two-office team, not a call centre. The person booking your Tyne and Wear shifts knows which settings suit you. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Newcastle upon Tyne itself, which we would rather say plainly.
If you can travel, there is steady work in Gateshead, South Shields and Sunderland as well, and many people cover two of those alongside Newcastle upon Tyne.
Tell us which parts of Tyne and Wear you can reach and we will match you to what is open. There are immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Call 020 8951 4510 or use the contact form.
