Support Worker roles in Neath

Protocol Healthcare Services recruits Support Workers in and around Neath for mental health services, learning disability support and community settings. The work is about helping people live the life they want, with as much independence as possible.

Working around Neath

Work comes up near Neath town centre, Melincryddan and Cimla, much of it within reach of Neath Port Talbot Hospital. Between Swansea Bay University Health Board and Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council, most of what we staff around Briton Ferry sits under one of the two.

Shifts land right across the patch: Neath town centre, Melincryddan and Cimla one week, Briton Ferry, Skewen and Cadoxton the next. If you are based around SA10 or SA11, you are inside the area we cover most heavily.

A typical shift

  • Supporting people to access work, education, activities and their community
  • Positive behaviour support and de-escalation, with training provided
  • Medication prompting and support appropriate to your training
  • Accurate notes and clear communication with the wider team
  • Supporting people with daily routines and personal care where needed
  • Encouraging independence, choice and everyday decision making

Shifts and contracts

Full-time and part-time patterns both work. If Cadoxton is easier for you to reach than Bryncoch, say so and the rota follows it. Once you are established we keep the work regular rather than sporadic, usually in the same two or three services around Bryncoch.

We recruit for temporary and permanent posts. Trying several settings between Neath town centre and Briton Ferry first tends to make the permanent choice obvious.

What you will need

  • Good communication skills
  • Experience in mental health or learning disability support is desirable, not essential
  • An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
  • The right to work in the UK
  • Patience, resilience and respect for the people you support

How we work with you

We are a two-office team, not a call centre. The person booking your Neath Port Talbot shifts knows which settings suit you. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Neath itself, which we would rather say plainly.

If you can travel, there is steady work in Port Talbot, Swansea and Bridgend as well, and many people cover two of those alongside Neath.

Tell us which parts of Neath Port Talbot you can reach and we will match you to what is open. There are immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Call 020 8951 4510 or use the contact form.
