Support Worker roles in Bridgend
Protocol Healthcare Services recruits Support Workers in and around Bridgend for mental health services, learning disability support and community settings. The work is about helping people live the life they want, with as much independence as possible.
Bridgend and the area we cover
Work comes up near Bridgend Town, Porthcawl and Maesteg, much of it within reach of Wales Hospital. Between Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board and Bridgend County Borough Council, most of what we staff around Pencoed sits under one of the two.
Shifts land right across the patch: Bridgend Town, Porthcawl and Maesteg one week, Pencoed, Brackla and Pyle the next. If you are based around CF31 or CF36, you are inside the area we cover most heavily.
What you would be doing
- ✓ Accurate notes and clear communication with the wider team
- ✓ Supporting people with daily routines and personal care where needed
- ✓ Encouraging independence, choice and everyday decision making
- ✓ Supporting people to access work, education, activities and their community
- ✓ Positive behaviour support and de-escalation, with training provided
- ✓ Medication prompting and support appropriate to your training
Shifts, and how they are booked
Full-time and part-time patterns both work. If Pyle is easier for you to reach than Kenfig Hill, say so and the rota follows it. Once you are established we keep the work regular rather than sporadic, usually in the same two or three services around Kenfig Hill.
We recruit for temporary and permanent posts. Trying several settings between Bridgend Town and Pencoed first tends to make the permanent choice obvious.
What we look for
- ✓Experience in mental health or learning disability support is desirable, not essential
- ✓An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
- ✓The right to work in the UK
- ✓Patience, resilience and respect for the people you support
- ✓Good communication skills
What we do for you
We are a two-office team, not a call centre. The person booking your Wales shifts knows which settings suit you. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Bridgend itself, which we would rather say plainly.
If you can travel, there is steady work in Port Talbot, Pontypridd and Neath as well, and many people cover two of those alongside Bridgend.
Tell us which parts of Wales you can reach and we will match you to what is open. There are immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Call 020 8951 4510 or use the contact form.
