Neath and the area we cover
Neath Port Talbot Hospital is the hospital local teams work alongside, and the homes and services around Neath town centre and Cimla draw staff from the same pool. Swansea Bay University Health Board runs services locally, with Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council commissioning the social care alongside them.
Most placements are in Neath town centre, Melincryddan and Cimla, with regular work further out at Briton Ferry, Skewen and Cadoxton. Postings run through SA10 and SA11, including out at Tonna.
What you would be doing
- ✓ Working alongside GPs, district nurses and multidisciplinary teams
- ✓ Supporting and supervising care and support staff on shift
- ✓ Accurate record keeping and handover
- ✓ Assessing, planning and reviewing care for the people you look after
- ✓ Medication administration and clinical observations
- ✓ Wound care, catheter care and other clinical tasks within your competence
Shifts, and how they are booked
Days, nights and weekends are all available, full time or part time. Someone covering Skewen on earlies and Cadoxton on nights is an ordinary week here. The aim is ongoing work in settings you already know, not a different address every week between Neath town centre and Bryncoch.
Some people stay on agency indefinitely; others use a few months around Cimla to find the right permanent home. Both are fine.
