Support Worker roles in Cannock

Support Worker roles in Cannock cover a lot of ground: supported living, mental health services, learning disability support and community teams. Protocol Healthcare Services places people on agency shifts and in permanent posts across all of it.

Where you would be based in Cannock

Cannock Chase Hospital is the hospital local teams work alongside, and the homes and services around Cannock Town and Heath Hayes draw staff from the same pool. The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust runs services locally, with Staffordshire County Council commissioning the social care alongside them.

Most placements are in Cannock Town, Hednesford and Heath Hayes, with regular work further out at Norton Canes, Bridgtown and Chadsmoor. Postings run through WS11 and WS12, including out at Cannock Wood.

What the role involves

  • Positive behaviour support and de-escalation, with training provided
  • Medication prompting and support appropriate to your training
  • Accurate notes and clear communication with the wider team
  • Supporting people with daily routines and personal care where needed
  • Encouraging independence, choice and everyday decision making
  • Supporting people to access work, education, activities and their community

Hours, shifts and contracts

Days, nights and weekends are all available, full time or part time. Someone covering Bridgtown on earlies and Chadsmoor on nights is an ordinary week here. The aim is ongoing work in settings you already know, not a different address every week between Cannock Town and Wimblebury.

Some people stay on agency indefinitely; others use a few months around Heath Hayes to find the right permanent home. Both are fine.

Who we are looking for

  • Good communication skills
  • Experience in mental health or learning disability support is desirable, not essential
  • An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
  • The right to work in the UK
  • Patience, resilience and respect for the people you support

Why people stay with us

You get one consultant who knows your registration, your patch and which Staffordshire services you have already worked in. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Cannock itself, which we would rather say plainly.

Walsall, Wolverhampton and Stafford are close enough that plenty of our people work across them and Cannock both.

Let us know your hours and how far you will travel from Cannock Town, and we will do the rest. There are immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Call 020 8951 4510 or use the contact form.
