Support Worker roles in Wolverhampton

Protocol Healthcare Services recruits Support Workers in and around Wolverhampton for mental health services, learning disability support and community settings. The work is about helping people live the life they want, with as much independence as possible.

Where the work is in Wolverhampton

Work comes up near Wednesfield, Bilston and Tettenhall, much of it within reach of New Cross Hospital. Between The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust and Wolverhampton Council, most of what we staff around Penn sits under one of the two.

Shifts land right across the patch: Wednesfield, Bilston and Tettenhall one week, Penn, Whitmore Reans and Heath Town the next. West Midlands is well within the area we cover.

The job day to day

  • Supporting people to access work, education, activities and their community
  • Positive behaviour support and de-escalation, with training provided
  • Medication prompting and support appropriate to your training
  • Accurate notes and clear communication with the wider team
  • Supporting people with daily routines and personal care where needed
  • Encouraging independence, choice and everyday decision making

When you would work

Full-time and part-time patterns both work. If Heath Town is easier for you to reach than Bushbury, say so and the rota follows it. Once you are established we keep the work regular rather than sporadic, usually in the same two or three services around Bushbury.

We recruit for temporary and permanent posts. Trying several settings between Wednesfield and Penn first tends to make the permanent choice obvious.

Before you apply

  • The right to work in the UK
  • Patience, resilience and respect for the people you support
  • Good communication skills
  • Experience in mental health or learning disability support is desirable, not essential
  • An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange

Working with Protocol

We are a two-office team, not a call centre. The person booking your West Midlands shifts knows which settings suit you. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Wolverhampton itself, which we would rather say plainly.

If you can travel, there is steady work in Dudley, Walsall and West Bromwich as well, and many people cover two of those alongside Wolverhampton.

Tell us which parts of West Midlands you can reach and we will match you to what is open. There are immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Call 020 8951 4510 or use the contact form.
