Nurse roles in Stoke-on-Trent

Protocol Healthcare Services is looking for dedicated, compassionate and professional Registered Nurses to work in and around Stoke-on-Trent. We place nurses on both agency and permanent contracts, so whether you want to pick up shifts around other commitments or move into a settled post, there is a route for you.

Where you would be based in Stoke-on-Trent

Work comes up near Hanley, Burslem and Tunstall, much of it within reach of Royal Stoke University Hospital. Between North Midlands NHS Trust and Stoke-on-Trent City Council, most of what we staff around Longton sits under one of the two.

Shifts land right across the patch: Hanley, Burslem and Tunstall one week, Longton, Fenton and Stoke the next. If you are based around ST1 or ST6, you are inside the area we cover most heavily.

What the role involves

  • Accurate record keeping and handover
  • Assessing, planning and reviewing care for the people you look after
  • Medication administration and clinical observations
  • Wound care, catheter care and other clinical tasks within your competence
  • Working alongside GPs, district nurses and multidisciplinary teams
  • Supporting and supervising care and support staff on shift

Hours, shifts and contracts

Full-time and part-time patterns both work. If Stoke is easier for you to reach than Trentham, say so and the rota follows it. Once you are established we keep the work regular rather than sporadic, usually in the same two or three services around Trentham.

We recruit for temporary and permanent posts. Trying several settings between Hanley and Longton first tends to make the permanent choice obvious.

Who we are looking for

  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
  • The right to work in the UK
  • Excellent clinical and communication skills
  • Experience in community, elderly or end-of-life care is desirable, but not essential
  • An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange

Why people stay with us

We are a two-office team, not a call centre. The person booking your Staffordshire shifts knows which settings suit you. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Stoke-on-Trent itself, which we would rather say plainly.

If you can travel, there is steady work in Crewe, Stafford and Macclesfield as well, and many people cover two of those alongside Stoke-on-Trent.

Tell us which parts of Staffordshire you can reach and we will match you to what is open. There are immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Call 020 8951 4510 or use the contact form.
