Nurse roles in Stafford

Protocol Healthcare Services is looking for dedicated, compassionate and professional Registered Nurses to work in and around Stafford. We place nurses on both agency and permanent contracts, so whether you want to pick up shifts around other commitments or move into a settled post, there is a route for you.

Where the work is in Stafford

Work comes up near Highfields, Western Downs and Rising Brook, much of it within reach of County Hospital. Between North Midlands NHS Trust and Staffordshire County Council, most of what we staff around Weeping Cross sits under one of the two.

Shifts land right across the patch: Highfields, Western Downs and Rising Brook one week, Weeping Cross, Baswich and Wildwood the next. If you are based around ST16 or ST18, you are inside the area we cover most heavily.

The job day to day

  • Wound care, catheter care and other clinical tasks within your competence
  • Working alongside GPs, district nurses and multidisciplinary teams
  • Supporting and supervising care and support staff on shift
  • Accurate record keeping and handover
  • Assessing, planning and reviewing care for the people you look after
  • Medication administration and clinical observations

When you would work

Full-time and part-time patterns both work. If Wildwood is easier for you to reach than Rickerscote, say so and the rota follows it. Once you are established we keep the work regular rather than sporadic, usually in the same two or three services around Rickerscote.

We recruit for temporary and permanent posts. Trying several settings between Highfields and Weeping Cross first tends to make the permanent choice obvious.

Before you apply

  • The right to work in the UK
  • Excellent clinical and communication skills
  • Experience in community, elderly or end-of-life care is desirable, but not essential
  • An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)

Working with Protocol

We are a two-office team, not a call centre. The person booking your Staffordshire shifts knows which settings suit you. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Stafford itself, which we would rather say plainly.

If you can travel, there is steady work in Cannock, Stoke-on-Trent and Wolverhampton as well, and many people cover two of those alongside Stafford.

Tell us which parts of Staffordshire you can reach and we will match you to what is open. There are immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Call 020 8951 4510 or use the contact form.
