Working around Nottingham
Queen's Medical Centre is the hospital local teams work alongside, and the homes and services around Sherwood and Bulwell draw staff from the same pool. Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust runs services locally, with Nottingham City Council commissioning the social care alongside them.
Most placements are in Sherwood, Mapperley and Bulwell, with regular work further out at Wollaton, Bilborough and Lenton. Postings run through NG7, NG1 and NG8, including out at Clifton.
A typical shift
- ✓ Assessing, planning and reviewing care for the people you look after
- ✓ Medication administration and clinical observations
- ✓ Wound care, catheter care and other clinical tasks within your competence
- ✓ Working alongside GPs, district nurses and multidisciplinary teams
- ✓ Supporting and supervising care and support staff on shift
- ✓ Accurate record keeping and handover
Shifts and contracts
Days, nights and weekends are all available, full time or part time. Someone covering Bilborough on earlies and Lenton on nights is an ordinary week here. The aim is ongoing work in settings you already know, not a different address every week between Sherwood and Radford.
Some people stay on agency indefinitely; others use a few months around Bulwell to find the right permanent home. Both are fine.
What you will need
- ✓Experience in community, elderly or end-of-life care is desirable, but not essential
- ✓An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
- ✓Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
- ✓The right to work in the UK
- ✓Excellent clinical and communication skills

You get one consultant who knows your registration, your patch and which East Midlands services you have already worked in. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Nottingham itself, which we would rather say plainly.
Loughborough, Mansfield and Derby are close enough that plenty of our people work across them and Nottingham both.
