Where you would be based in Derby
Royal Derby Hospital is the hospital local teams work alongside, and the homes and services around Allestree and Chaddesden draw staff from the same pool. Burton NHS Foundation Trust runs services locally, with Derby City Council commissioning the social care alongside them.
Most placements are in Allestree, Mickleover and Chaddesden, with regular work further out at Littleover, Spondon and Alvaston. Postings run through DE22, DE3 and DE21, including out at Normanton.
What the role involves
- ✓ Working alongside GPs, district nurses and multidisciplinary teams
- ✓ Supporting and supervising care and support staff on shift
- ✓ Accurate record keeping and handover
- ✓ Assessing, planning and reviewing care for the people you look after
- ✓ Medication administration and clinical observations
- ✓ Wound care, catheter care and other clinical tasks within your competence
Hours, shifts and contracts
Days, nights and weekends are all available, full time or part time. Someone covering Spondon on earlies and Alvaston on nights is an ordinary week here. The aim is ongoing work in settings you already know, not a different address every week between Allestree and Oakwood.
Some people stay on agency indefinitely; others use a few months around Chaddesden to find the right permanent home. Both are fine.
Who we are looking for

- ✓Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
- ✓The right to work in the UK
- ✓Excellent clinical and communication skills
- ✓Experience in community, elderly or end-of-life care is desirable, but not essential
