Nurse roles in Blackburn

Nursing work in Blackburn comes in more shapes than most people expect. Protocol Healthcare Services recruits Registered Nurses for agency shifts and for permanent posts, and the right answer depends on what you want your week to look like rather than on what we have to fill.

Blackburn and the area we cover

Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital anchors a good deal of the health provision around Ewood and Mill Hill, and the settings we recruit for sit close to it. Darwen Borough Council commissions much of the care in the area, and East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust runs the clinical side.

We fill posts in Ewood, Mill Hill, Little Harwood and Wensley Fold and out towards Livesey, Roe Lee and Witton. BB2, BB1 and BB3 come up most often, and work extends through Lancashire.

What you would be doing

  • Medication administration and clinical observations
  • Wound care, catheter care and other clinical tasks within your competence
  • Working alongside GPs, district nurses and multidisciplinary teams
  • Supporting and supervising care and support staff on shift
  • Accurate record keeping and handover
  • Assessing, planning and reviewing care for the people you look after

Shifts, and how they are booked

You set your availability. Plenty of the people we place around Livesey work three or four shifts and keep the rest of the week their own. Most people settle into a handful of regular services, often within a few miles of Little Harwood.

Agency and permanent are both on offer. Picking up shifts in two or three services around Mill Hill is a low-risk way to find out where you want to be.

What we look for

  • The right to work in the UK
  • Excellent clinical and communication skills
  • Experience in community, elderly or end-of-life care is desirable, but not essential
  • An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)

What we do for you

One consultant looks after you, knows the difference between the services in Ewood and Livesey, and is reachable when a shift throws something up. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Blackburn itself, which we would rather say plainly.

Work in Preston and Burnley often suits the same people, so tell us how far you are willing to go.

Send your availability and what you are qualified for, and a consultant will call you back about work around Wensley Fold. There are immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Call 020 8951 4510 or use the contact form.
