Protocol Healthcare Services is looking for dedicated, compassionate and professional Registered Nurses to work in and around Wigan. Wigan and the area we cover
Work comes up near Ince, Pemberton and Orrell, much of it within reach of Royal Albert Edward Infirmary. Between Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Wigan Council, most of what we staff around Aspull sits under one of the two.
Shifts land right across the patch: Ince, Pemberton and Orrell one week, Aspull, Hindley and Ashton-in-Makerfield the next. Greater Manchester is well within the area we cover.
What you would be doing
- ✓ Accurate record keeping and handover
- ✓ Assessing, planning and reviewing care for the people you look after
- ✓ Medication administration and clinical observations
- ✓ Wound care, catheter care and other clinical tasks within your competence
- ✓ Working alongside GPs, district nurses and multidisciplinary teams
- ✓ Supporting and supervising care and support staff on shift
Shifts, and how they are booked
Full-time and part-time patterns both work. If Ashton-in-Makerfield is easier for you to reach than Standish, say so and the rota follows it. Once you are established we keep the work regular rather than sporadic, usually in the same two or three services around Standish.
We recruit for temporary and permanent posts. Trying several settings between Ince and Aspull first tends to make the permanent choice obvious.

- ✓The right to work in the UK
- ✓Excellent clinical and communication skills
- ✓Experience in community, elderly or end-of-life care is desirable, but not essential
- ✓An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
- ✓Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
What we do for you
We are a two-office team, not a call centre. The person booking your Greater Manchester shifts knows which settings suit you. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Wigan itself, which we would rather say plainly.
If you can travel, there is steady work in St Helens, Bolton and Warrington as well, and many people cover two of those alongside Wigan.
