Healthcare Assistant roles in Cardiff
Healthcare Assistant work in Cardiff is one of the most direct ways into a career in care. Protocol Healthcare Services recruits HCAs for temporary and permanent positions, with full training provided and a consultant who knows which settings suit you.
Cardiff and the area we cover
University Hospital is the hospital local teams work alongside, and the homes and services around Llandaff and Cyncoed draw staff from the same pool. Vale University Health Board runs services locally, with Cardiff Council commissioning the social care alongside them.
Most placements are in Llandaff, Heath and Cyncoed, with regular work further out at Penylan, Whitchurch and Rhiwbina. Postings run through CF10, CF24 and CF11, including out at Roath.
What you would be doing
- ✓ Taking and recording clinical observations under supervision
- ✓ Companionship, conversation and keeping people connected
- ✓ Reporting changes and keeping clear records
- ✓ Helping people wash, dress and stay comfortable
- ✓ Supporting with meals, drinks and nutrition
- ✓ Assisting with mobility and safe moving and handling
Shifts, and how they are booked
Days, nights and weekends are all available, full time or part time. Someone covering Whitchurch on earlies and Rhiwbina on nights is an ordinary week here. The aim is ongoing work in settings you already know, not a different address every week between Llandaff and Llanishen.
Some people stay on agency indefinitely; others use a few months around Cyncoed to find the right permanent home. Both are fine.
What we look for
- ✓An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
- ✓The right to work in the UK
- ✓A caring, patient and reliable approach
- ✓Good spoken and written communication
- ✓Previous care experience is welcome but not essential, as training is provided
What we do for you
You get one consultant who knows your registration, your patch and which South Wales services you have already worked in. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Cardiff itself, which we would rather say plainly.
Barry, Caerphilly and Newport are close enough that plenty of our people work across them and Cardiff both.
Let us know your hours and how far you will travel from Llandaff, and we will do the rest. There are immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Call 020 8951 4510 or use the contact form.
