Support Worker roles in Merton

If you want Support Worker work in Merton, Protocol Healthcare Services recruits for supported living, mental health and learning disability services, on both temporary and permanent contracts.

Where you would be based in Merton

St George's Hospital anchors a good deal of the health provision around Wimbledon and Wimbledon Village, and the settings we recruit for sit close to it. Merton Council commissions much of the care in the area, and St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust runs the clinical side.

We fill posts in Wimbledon, Wimbledon Village, Wimbledon Park and South Wimbledon and out towards Raynes Park, Merton Park and Colliers Wood. SW19, SW20, CR4 and SM4 come up most often, and work extends through London.

What the role involves

  • Encouraging independence, choice and everyday decision making
  • Supporting people to access work, education, activities and their community
  • Positive behaviour support and de-escalation, with training provided
  • Medication prompting and support appropriate to your training
  • Accurate notes and clear communication with the wider team
  • Supporting people with daily routines and personal care where needed

Hours, shifts and contracts

You set your availability. Plenty of the people we place around Raynes Park work three or four shifts and keep the rest of the week their own. Most people settle into a handful of regular services, often within a few miles of Wimbledon Park.

Agency and permanent are both on offer. Picking up shifts in two or three services around Wimbledon Village is a low-risk way to find out where you want to be.

Who we are looking for

  • Good communication skills
  • Experience in mental health or learning disability support is desirable, not essential
  • An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
  • The right to work in the UK
  • Patience, resilience and respect for the people you support

Why people stay with us

One consultant looks after you, knows the difference between the services in Wimbledon and Raynes Park, and is reachable when a shift throws something up. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Merton itself, which we would rather say plainly.

Work in Wandsworth and Sutton often suits the same people, so tell us how far you are willing to go.

Send your availability and what you are qualified for, and a consultant will call you back about work around South Wimbledon. There are immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Call 020 8951 4510 or use the contact form.
