Support Worker roles in Lambeth
Protocol Healthcare Services recruits Support Workers in and around Lambeth for mental health services, learning disability support and community settings. The work is about helping people live the life they want, with as much independence as possible.
Lambeth and the area we cover
Work comes up near Brixton, Streatham and Clapham, much of it within reach of St Thomas' Hospital. Between St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and Lambeth Council, most of what we staff around Kennington sits under one of the two.
Shifts land right across the patch: Brixton, Streatham and Clapham one week, Kennington, Vauxhall and Stockwell the next. If you are based around SW2 or SW4, you are inside the area we cover most heavily.
What you would be doing
- ✓ Accurate notes and clear communication with the wider team
- ✓ Supporting people with daily routines and personal care where needed
- ✓ Encouraging independence, choice and everyday decision making
- ✓ Supporting people to access work, education, activities and their community
- ✓ Positive behaviour support and de-escalation, with training provided
- ✓ Medication prompting and support appropriate to your training
Shifts, and how they are booked
Full-time and part-time patterns both work. If Stockwell is easier for you to reach than West Norwood, say so and the rota follows it. Once you are established we keep the work regular rather than sporadic, usually in the same two or three services around West Norwood.
We recruit for temporary and permanent posts. Trying several settings between Brixton and Kennington first tends to make the permanent choice obvious.
What we look for
- ✓The right to work in the UK
- ✓Patience, resilience and respect for the people you support
- ✓Good communication skills
- ✓Experience in mental health or learning disability support is desirable, not essential
- ✓An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
What we do for you
We are a two-office team, not a call centre. The person booking your London shifts knows which settings suit you. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Lambeth itself, which we would rather say plainly.
If you can travel, there is steady work in Westminster, Wandsworth and Southwark as well, and many people cover two of those alongside Lambeth.
Tell us which parts of London you can reach and we will match you to what is open. There are immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Call 020 8951 4510 or use the contact form.
