Support Worker roles in Manchester

If you want Support Worker work in Manchester, Protocol Healthcare Services recruits for supported living, mental health and learning disability services, on both temporary and permanent contracts.

Where the work is in Manchester

Manchester Royal Infirmary anchors a good deal of the health provision around Didsbury and Chorlton, and the settings we recruit for sit close to it. Manchester City Council commissions much of the care in the area, and Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust runs the clinical side.

We fill posts in Didsbury, Chorlton, Withington and Fallowfield and out towards Rusholme, Levenshulme and Gorton. Work extends across Greater Manchester.

The job day to day

  • Medication prompting and support appropriate to your training
  • Accurate notes and clear communication with the wider team
  • Supporting people with daily routines and personal care where needed
  • Encouraging independence, choice and everyday decision making
  • Supporting people to access work, education, activities and their community
  • Positive behaviour support and de-escalation, with training provided

When you would work

You set your availability. Plenty of the people we place around Rusholme work three or four shifts and keep the rest of the week their own. Most people settle into a handful of regular services, often within a few miles of Withington.

Agency and permanent are both on offer. Picking up shifts in two or three services around Chorlton is a low-risk way to find out where you want to be.

Before you apply

  • The right to work in the UK
  • Patience, resilience and respect for the people you support
  • Good communication skills
  • Experience in mental health or learning disability support is desirable, not essential
  • An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange

Working with Protocol

One consultant looks after you, knows the difference between the services in Didsbury and Rusholme, and is reachable when a shift throws something up. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Manchester itself, which we would rather say plainly.

Work in Salford and Stockport often suits the same people, so tell us how far you are willing to go.

Send your availability and what you are qualified for, and a consultant will call you back about work around Fallowfield. There are immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Call 020 8951 4510 or use the contact form.
