Healthcare Assistant roles in Manchester

Protocol Healthcare Services places Healthcare Assistants in and around Manchester, on agency shifts and in permanent roles. You do not need years of experience to start: what matters most is reliability, patience and a genuine interest in the people you look after.

Working around Manchester

Work comes up near Didsbury, Chorlton and Withington, much of it within reach of Manchester Royal Infirmary. Between Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust and Manchester City Council, most of what we staff around Fallowfield sits under one of the two.

Shifts land right across the patch: Didsbury, Chorlton and Withington one week, Fallowfield, Rusholme and Levenshulme the next. Greater Manchester is well within the area we cover.

A typical shift

  • Assisting with mobility and safe moving and handling
  • Taking and recording clinical observations under supervision
  • Companionship, conversation and keeping people connected
  • Reporting changes and keeping clear records
  • Helping people wash, dress and stay comfortable
  • Supporting with meals, drinks and nutrition

Shifts and contracts

Full-time and part-time patterns both work. If Levenshulme is easier for you to reach than Gorton, say so and the rota follows it. Once you are established we keep the work regular rather than sporadic, usually in the same two or three services around Gorton.

We recruit for temporary and permanent posts. Trying several settings between Didsbury and Fallowfield first tends to make the permanent choice obvious.

What you will need

  • A caring, patient and reliable approach
  • Good spoken and written communication
  • Previous care experience is welcome but not essential, as training is provided
  • An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
  • The right to work in the UK

How we work with you

We are a two-office team, not a call centre. The person booking your Greater Manchester shifts knows which settings suit you. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Manchester itself, which we would rather say plainly.

If you can travel, there is steady work in Salford, Stockport and Oldham as well, and many people cover two of those alongside Manchester.

Tell us which parts of Greater Manchester you can reach and we will match you to what is open. There are immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Call 020 8951 4510 or use the contact form.
