Support Worker roles in Huddersfield
If you want Support Worker work in Huddersfield, Protocol Healthcare Services recruits for supported living, mental health and learning disability services, on both temporary and permanent contracts.
Where you would be based in Huddersfield
Huddersfield Royal Infirmary anchors a good deal of the health provision around Lindley and Marsh, and the settings we recruit for sit close to it. Kirklees Council commissions much of the care in the area, and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust runs the clinical side.
We fill posts in Lindley, Marsh, Paddock and Birkby and out towards Fartown, Deighton and Almondbury. HD1, HD2 and HD9 come up most often, and work extends through West Yorkshire.
What the role involves
- ✓ Encouraging independence, choice and everyday decision making
- ✓ Supporting people to access work, education, activities and their community
- ✓ Positive behaviour support and de-escalation, with training provided
- ✓ Medication prompting and support appropriate to your training
- ✓ Accurate notes and clear communication with the wider team
- ✓ Supporting people with daily routines and personal care where needed
Hours, shifts and contracts
You set your availability. Plenty of the people we place around Fartown work three or four shifts and keep the rest of the week their own. Most people settle into a handful of regular services, often within a few miles of Paddock.
Agency and permanent are both on offer. Picking up shifts in two or three services around Marsh is a low-risk way to find out where you want to be.
Who we are looking for
- ✓Patience, resilience and respect for the people you support
- ✓Good communication skills
- ✓Experience in mental health or learning disability support is desirable, not essential
- ✓An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
- ✓The right to work in the UK

One consultant looks after you, knows the difference between the services in Lindley and Fartown, and is reachable when a shift throws something up. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Huddersfield itself, which we would rather say plainly.
Work in Halifax and Dewsbury often suits the same people, so tell us how far you are willing to go.
