Support Worker roles in Bradford

Support Worker roles in Bradford cover a lot of ground: supported living, mental health services, learning disability support and community teams. Protocol Healthcare Services places people on agency shifts and in permanent posts across all of it.

Working around Bradford

Bradford Royal Infirmary is the hospital local teams work alongside, and the homes and services around Shipley and Bingley draw staff from the same pool. Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust runs services locally, with Bradford Metropolitan District Council commissioning the social care alongside them.

Most placements are in Shipley, Saltaire and Bingley, with regular work further out at Baildon, Keighley and Ilkley. Postings run through BD9, BD5 and BD1, including out at Little Horton.

A typical shift

  • Supporting people with daily routines and personal care where needed
  • Encouraging independence, choice and everyday decision making
  • Supporting people to access work, education, activities and their community
  • Positive behaviour support and de-escalation, with training provided
  • Medication prompting and support appropriate to your training
  • Accurate notes and clear communication with the wider team

Shifts and contracts

Days, nights and weekends are all available, full time or part time. Someone covering Keighley on earlies and Ilkley on nights is an ordinary week here. The aim is ongoing work in settings you already know, not a different address every week between Shipley and Manningham.

Some people stay on agency indefinitely; others use a few months around Bingley to find the right permanent home. Both are fine.

What you will need

  • An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
  • The right to work in the UK
  • Patience, resilience and respect for the people you support
  • Good communication skills
  • Experience in mental health or learning disability support is desirable, not essential

How we work with you

You get one consultant who knows your registration, your patch and which West Yorkshire services you have already worked in. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Bradford itself, which we would rather say plainly.

Halifax, Batley and Keighley are close enough that plenty of our people work across them and Bradford both.

Let us know your hours and how far you will travel from Shipley, and we will do the rest. There are immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Call 020 8951 4510 or use the contact form.
