Support Worker roles in Dewsbury

Support Worker roles in Dewsbury cover a lot of ground: supported living, mental health services, learning disability support and community teams. Protocol Healthcare Services places people on agency shifts and in permanent posts across all of it.

Dewsbury and the area we cover

District Hospital is the hospital local teams work alongside, and the homes and services around Batley and Thornhill draw staff from the same pool. Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust runs services locally, with Kirklees Council commissioning the social care alongside them.

Most placements are in Batley, Savile Town and Thornhill, with regular work further out at Ravensthorpe, Earlsheaton and Chickenley. Postings run through WF12, WF13 and WF16, including out at Hanging Heaton.

What you would be doing

  • Positive behaviour support and de-escalation, with training provided
  • Medication prompting and support appropriate to your training
  • Accurate notes and clear communication with the wider team
  • Supporting people with daily routines and personal care where needed
  • Encouraging independence, choice and everyday decision making
  • Supporting people to access work, education, activities and their community

Shifts, and how they are booked

Days, nights and weekends are all available, full time or part time. Someone covering Earlsheaton on earlies and Chickenley on nights is an ordinary week here. The aim is ongoing work in settings you already know, not a different address every week between Batley and Dewsbury Moor.

Some people stay on agency indefinitely; others use a few months around Thornhill to find the right permanent home. Both are fine.

What we look for

  • An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
  • The right to work in the UK
  • Patience, resilience and respect for the people you support
  • Good communication skills
  • Experience in mental health or learning disability support is desirable, not essential

What we do for you

You get one consultant who knows your registration, your patch and which West Yorkshire services you have already worked in. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Dewsbury itself, which we would rather say plainly.

Batley, Wakefield and Huddersfield are close enough that plenty of our people work across them and Dewsbury both.

Let us know your hours and how far you will travel from Batley, and we will do the rest. There are immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Call 020 8951 4510 or use the contact form.
