Dumfries and the area we cover
Work comes up near Maxwelltown, Troqueer and Georgetown, much of it within reach of Galloway Royal Infirmary. Between Dumfries and Galloway and Galloway Council, most of what we staff around Lochside sits under one of the two.
Shifts land right across the patch: Maxwelltown, Troqueer and Georgetown one week, Lochside, Lincluden and Locharbriggs the next. If you are based around DG1 or DG2, you are inside the area we cover most heavily.
What you would be doing
- ✓ Accurate notes and clear communication with the wider team
- ✓ Supporting people with daily routines and personal care where needed
- ✓ Encouraging independence, choice and everyday decision making
- ✓ Supporting people to access work, education, activities and their community
- ✓ Positive behaviour support and de-escalation, with training provided
- ✓ Medication prompting and support appropriate to your training
Shifts, and how they are booked
Full-time and part-time patterns both work. If Locharbriggs is easier for you to reach than Heathhall, say so and the rota follows it. Once you are established we keep the work regular rather than sporadic, usually in the same two or three services around Heathhall.
We recruit for temporary and permanent posts. Trying several settings between Maxwelltown and Lochside first tends to make the permanent choice obvious.

What we do for you
We are a two-office team, not a call centre. The person booking your Dumfries and Galloway shifts knows which settings suit you. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Dumfries itself, which we would rather say plainly.
If you can travel, there is steady work in Carlisle, Ayr and Kilmarnock as well, and many people cover two of those alongside Dumfries.
