Where you would be based in Kilmarnock
Work comes up near Shortlees, Bellfield and Onthank, much of it within reach of University Hospital. Between East Ayrshire and East Ayrshire Council, most of what we staff around New Farm Loch sits under one of the two.
Shifts land right across the patch: Shortlees, Bellfield and Onthank one week, New Farm Loch, Riccarton and Bonnyton the next. East Ayrshire is well within the area we cover.
What the role involves
- ✓ Accurate notes and clear communication with the wider team
- ✓ Supporting people with daily routines and personal care where needed
- ✓ Encouraging independence, choice and everyday decision making
- ✓ Supporting people to access work, education, activities and their community
- ✓ Positive behaviour support and de-escalation, with training provided
- ✓ Medication prompting and support appropriate to your training
Hours, shifts and contracts
Full-time and part-time patterns both work. If Bonnyton is easier for you to reach than Altonhill, say so and the rota follows it. Once you are established we keep the work regular rather than sporadic, usually in the same two or three services around Altonhill.
We recruit for temporary and permanent posts. Trying several settings between Shortlees and New Farm Loch first tends to make the permanent choice obvious.

We are a two-office team, not a call centre. The person booking your East Ayrshire shifts knows which settings suit you. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Kilmarnock itself, which we would rather say plainly.
If you can travel, there is steady work in Ayr, East Kilbride and Paisley as well, and many people cover two of those alongside Kilmarnock.
