Support Worker roles in Carlisle
Support Worker roles in Carlisle cover a lot of ground: supported living, mental health services, learning disability support and community teams. Protocol Healthcare Services places people on agency shifts and in permanent posts across all of it.
Carlisle and the area we cover
Cumberland Infirmary is the hospital local teams work alongside, and the homes and services around Stanwix and Currock draw staff from the same pool. North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust runs services locally, with Cumberland Council commissioning the social care alongside them.
Most placements are in Stanwix, Harraby and Currock, with regular work further out at Denton Holme, Upperby and Botcherby. Postings run through CA1, CA2 and CA3, including out at Caldewgate.
What you would be doing
- ✓ Positive behaviour support and de-escalation, with training provided
- ✓ Medication prompting and support appropriate to your training
- ✓ Accurate notes and clear communication with the wider team
- ✓ Supporting people with daily routines and personal care where needed
- ✓ Encouraging independence, choice and everyday decision making
- ✓ Supporting people to access work, education, activities and their community
Shifts, and how they are booked
Days, nights and weekends are all available, full time or part time. Someone covering Upperby on earlies and Botcherby on nights is an ordinary week here. The aim is ongoing work in settings you already know, not a different address every week between Stanwix and Belah.
Some people stay on agency indefinitely; others use a few months around Currock to find the right permanent home. Both are fine.
What we look for
- ✓The right to work in the UK
- ✓Patience, resilience and respect for the people you support
- ✓Good communication skills
- ✓Experience in mental health or learning disability support is desirable, not essential
- ✓An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
What we do for you
You get one consultant who knows your registration, your patch and which Cumbria services you have already worked in. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Carlisle itself, which we would rather say plainly.
Dumfries, Newcastle upon Tyne and Gateshead are close enough that plenty of our people work across them and Carlisle both.
Let us know your hours and how far you will travel from Stanwix, and we will do the rest. There are immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Call 020 8951 4510 or use the contact form.
