St John's Hospital is the hospital local teams work alongside, and the homes and services around Craigshill and Ladywell draw staff from the same pool. West Lothian Council runs services locally.
Most placements are in Craigshill, Howden and Ladywell, with regular work further out at Knightsridge, Deans and Dedridge. Postings run through EH54, including out at Eliburn.
The job day to day
- ✓ Assessing, planning and reviewing care for the people you look after
- ✓ Medication administration and clinical observations
- ✓ Wound care, catheter care and other clinical tasks within your competence
- ✓ Working alongside GPs, district nurses and multidisciplinary teams
- ✓ Supporting and supervising care and support staff on shift
- ✓ Accurate record keeping and handover
When you would work
Days, nights and weekends are all available, full time or part time. Someone covering Deans on earlies and Dedridge on nights is an ordinary week here. The aim is ongoing work in settings you already know, not a different address every week between Craigshill and Murieston.
Some people stay on agency indefinitely; others use a few months around Ladywell to find the right permanent home. Both are fine.
