Healthcare Assistant roles in Halifax
Healthcare Assistant work in Halifax is one of the most direct ways into a career in care. Protocol Healthcare Services recruits HCAs for temporary and permanent positions, with full training provided and a consultant who knows which settings suit you.
Where you would be based in Halifax
Calderdale Royal Hospital is the hospital local teams work alongside, and the homes and services around Skircoat and Boothtown draw staff from the same pool. Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust runs services locally, with Calderdale Council commissioning the social care alongside them.
Most placements are in Skircoat, Savile Park and Boothtown, with regular work further out at Illingworth, Ovenden and King Cross. Postings run through HX1, HX2 and HX3, including out at Elland.
What the role involves
- ✓ Taking and recording clinical observations under supervision
- ✓ Companionship, conversation and keeping people connected
- ✓ Reporting changes and keeping clear records
- ✓ Helping people wash, dress and stay comfortable
- ✓ Supporting with meals, drinks and nutrition
- ✓ Assisting with mobility and safe moving and handling
Hours, shifts and contracts
Days, nights and weekends are all available, full time or part time. Someone covering Ovenden on earlies and King Cross on nights is an ordinary week here. The aim is ongoing work in settings you already know, not a different address every week between Skircoat and Sowerby Bridge.
Some people stay on agency indefinitely; others use a few months around Boothtown to find the right permanent home. Both are fine.
Who we are looking for
- ✓The right to work in the UK
- ✓A caring, patient and reliable approach
- ✓Good spoken and written communication
- ✓Previous care experience is welcome but not essential, as training is provided
- ✓An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
Why people stay with us
You get one consultant who knows your registration, your patch and which West Yorkshire services you have already worked in. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Halifax itself, which we would rather say plainly.
Huddersfield, Bradford and Batley are close enough that plenty of our people work across them and Halifax both.
Let us know your hours and how far you will travel from Skircoat, and we will do the rest. There are immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Call 020 8951 4510 or use the contact form.
