Nurse roles in Halifax
Protocol Healthcare Services is looking for dedicated, compassionate and professional Registered Nurses to work in and around Halifax. We place nurses on both agency and permanent contracts, so whether you want to pick up shifts around other commitments or move into a settled post, there is a route for you.
Working around Halifax
Work comes up near Skircoat, Savile Park and Boothtown, much of it within reach of Calderdale Royal Hospital. Between Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust and Calderdale Council, most of what we staff around Illingworth sits under one of the two.
Shifts land right across the patch: Skircoat, Savile Park and Boothtown one week, Illingworth, Ovenden and King Cross the next. If you are based around HX1 or HX2, you are inside the area we cover most heavily.
A typical shift
- ✓ Wound care, catheter care and other clinical tasks within your competence
- ✓ Working alongside GPs, district nurses and multidisciplinary teams
- ✓ Supporting and supervising care and support staff on shift
- ✓ Accurate record keeping and handover
- ✓ Assessing, planning and reviewing care for the people you look after
- ✓ Medication administration and clinical observations
Shifts and contracts
Full-time and part-time patterns both work. If King Cross is easier for you to reach than Sowerby Bridge, say so and the rota follows it. Once you are established we keep the work regular rather than sporadic, usually in the same two or three services around Sowerby Bridge.
We recruit for temporary and permanent posts. Trying several settings between Skircoat and Illingworth first tends to make the permanent choice obvious.
What you will need
- ✓Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
- ✓The right to work in the UK
- ✓Excellent clinical and communication skills
- ✓Experience in community, elderly or end-of-life care is desirable, but not essential
- ✓An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
How we work with you
We are a two-office team, not a call centre. The person booking your West Yorkshire shifts knows which settings suit you. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Halifax itself, which we would rather say plainly.
If you can travel, there is steady work in Huddersfield, Bradford and Batley as well, and many people cover two of those alongside Halifax.
Tell us which parts of West Yorkshire you can reach and we will match you to what is open. There are immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Call 020 8951 4510 or use the contact form.

You need current NMC registration and the right to work in the UK. Experience in community, elderly or end-of-life care is desirable but not essential, and we will talk through which settings around Halifax suit your background.
Day, night and weekend shifts, on full-time and part-time patterns. You set your availability and we work to it. Once you are established we can offer regular ongoing shifts rather than one-offs.
Both. We recruit for temporary and permanent positions, and many people start on agency shifts around Halifax before moving into a permanent post once they have found a service that suits them.
Across nursing homes, residential services, supported living, community teams and NHS settings. In practice that means Skircoat, Savile Park, Boothtown, Illingworth and Ovenden, covering HX1, HX2 and HX3, and out into West Yorkshire. Calderdale Royal Hospital is the main hospital in the area.
We have immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Once your registration, right-to-work and DBS checks are in place, shifts can usually follow quickly. Call 020 8951 4510 or send us your details to get started.
