Support Worker roles in Rhyl
Support Worker roles in Rhyl cover a lot of ground: supported living, mental health services, learning disability support and community teams. Protocol Healthcare Services places people on agency shifts and in permanent posts across all of it.
Where you would be based in Rhyl
Royal Alexandra Hospital is the hospital local teams work alongside, and the homes and services around Rhyl West and Rhyl South draw staff from the same pool. Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board runs services locally, with Denbighshire County Council commissioning the social care alongside them.
Most placements are in Rhyl West, Rhyl East and Rhyl South, with regular work further out at Ty Newydd, Trellewelyn and Bodfor. Postings run through LL18, including out at The Marsh.
What the role involves
- ✓ Positive behaviour support and de-escalation, with training provided
- ✓ Medication prompting and support appropriate to your training
- ✓ Accurate notes and clear communication with the wider team
- ✓ Supporting people with daily routines and personal care where needed
- ✓ Encouraging independence, choice and everyday decision making
- ✓ Supporting people to access work, education, activities and their community
Hours, shifts and contracts
Days, nights and weekends are all available, full time or part time. Someone covering Trellewelyn on earlies and Bodfor on nights is an ordinary week here. The aim is ongoing work in settings you already know, not a different address every week between Rhyl West and Foryd.
Some people stay on agency indefinitely; others use a few months around Rhyl South to find the right permanent home. Both are fine.
Who we are looking for
- ✓The right to work in the UK
- ✓Patience, resilience and respect for the people you support
- ✓Good communication skills
- ✓Experience in mental health or learning disability support is desirable, not essential
- ✓An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
