Support Worker roles in Colwyn Bay
Protocol Healthcare Services recruits Support Workers in and around Colwyn Bay for mental health services, learning disability support and community settings. The work is about helping people live the life they want, with as much independence as possible.
Where you would be based in Colwyn Bay
Work comes up near Old Colwyn, Rhos-on-Sea and Mochdre, much of it within reach of Colwyn Bay Community Hospital. Between Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board and Conwy County Borough Council, most of what we staff around Llysfaen sits under one of the two.
Shifts land right across the patch: Old Colwyn, Rhos-on-Sea and Mochdre one week, Llysfaen, Penrhyn Bay and Llandudno Junction the next. If you are based around LL29 or LL28, you are inside the area we cover most heavily.
What the role involves
- ✓ Accurate notes and clear communication with the wider team
- ✓ Supporting people with daily routines and personal care where needed
- ✓ Encouraging independence, choice and everyday decision making
- ✓ Supporting people to access work, education, activities and their community
- ✓ Positive behaviour support and de-escalation, with training provided
- ✓ Medication prompting and support appropriate to your training
Hours, shifts and contracts
Full-time and part-time patterns both work. If Llandudno Junction is easier for you to reach than Bryn-y-Maen, say so and the rota follows it. Once you are established we keep the work regular rather than sporadic, usually in the same two or three services around Bryn-y-Maen.
We recruit for temporary and permanent posts. Trying several settings between Old Colwyn and Llysfaen first tends to make the permanent choice obvious.
Who we are looking for
- ✓Good communication skills
- ✓Experience in mental health or learning disability support is desirable, not essential
- ✓An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
- ✓The right to work in the UK
- ✓Patience, resilience and respect for the people you support
Why people stay with us
We are a two-office team, not a call centre. The person booking your Conwy shifts knows which settings suit you. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Colwyn Bay itself, which we would rather say plainly.
If you can travel, there is steady work in Rhyl, Bangor and Birkenhead as well, and many people cover two of those alongside Colwyn Bay.
Tell us which parts of Conwy you can reach and we will match you to what is open. There are immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Call 020 8951 4510 or use the contact form.
