Support Worker roles in Blackpool

If you want Support Worker work in Blackpool, Protocol Healthcare Services recruits for supported living, mental health and learning disability services, on both temporary and permanent contracts.

Blackpool and the area we cover

Blackpool Victoria Hospital anchors a good deal of the health provision around Bispham and Marton, and the settings we recruit for sit close to it. Blackpool Council commissions much of the care in the area, and Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust runs the clinical side.

We fill posts in Bispham, Marton, Layton and Grange Park and out towards South Shore, Squires Gate and Anchorsholme. FY1, FY4, FY3 and FY2 come up most often, and work extends through Lancashire.

What you would be doing

  • Encouraging independence, choice and everyday decision making
  • Supporting people to access work, education, activities and their community
  • Positive behaviour support and de-escalation, with training provided
  • Medication prompting and support appropriate to your training
  • Accurate notes and clear communication with the wider team
  • Supporting people with daily routines and personal care where needed

Shifts, and how they are booked

You set your availability. Plenty of the people we place around South Shore work three or four shifts and keep the rest of the week their own. Most people settle into a handful of regular services, often within a few miles of Layton.

Agency and permanent are both on offer. Picking up shifts in two or three services around Marton is a low-risk way to find out where you want to be.

What we look for

  • Good communication skills
  • Experience in mental health or learning disability support is desirable, not essential
  • An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
  • The right to work in the UK
  • Patience, resilience and respect for the people you support

What we do for you

One consultant looks after you, knows the difference between the services in Bispham and South Shore, and is reachable when a shift throws something up. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Blackpool itself, which we would rather say plainly.

Work in Southport and Preston often suits the same people, so tell us how far you are willing to go.

Send your availability and what you are qualified for, and a consultant will call you back about work around Grange Park. There are immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Call 020 8951 4510 or use the contact form.
