Where you would be based in Newham
Newham University Hospital is the hospital local teams work alongside, and the homes and services around Stratford and West Ham draw staff from the same pool. Barts Health NHS Trust runs services locally, with Newham Council commissioning the social care alongside them.
Most placements are in Stratford, East Ham and West Ham, with regular work further out at Forest Gate, Plaistow and Manor Park. Postings run through E6, E7 and E12, including out at Canning Town.
What the role involves
- ✓ Working alongside GPs, district nurses and multidisciplinary teams
- ✓ Supporting and supervising care and support staff on shift
- ✓ Accurate record keeping and handover
- ✓ Assessing, planning and reviewing care for the people you look after
- ✓ Medication administration and clinical observations
- ✓ Wound care, catheter care and other clinical tasks within your competence
Hours, shifts and contracts
Days, nights and weekends are all available, full time or part time. Someone covering Plaistow on earlies and Manor Park on nights is an ordinary week here. The aim is ongoing work in settings you already know, not a different address every week between Stratford and Beckton.
Some people stay on agency indefinitely; others use a few months around West Ham to find the right permanent home. Both are fine.
