Luton and the area we cover
Dunstable University Hospital is the hospital local teams work alongside, and the homes and services around Stopsley and Bury Park draw staff from the same pool. Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust runs services locally, with Luton Borough Council commissioning the social care alongside them.
Most placements are in Stopsley, Leagrave and Bury Park, with regular work further out at Sundon Park, Bramingham and High Town. Postings run through LU1, LU2 and LU3, including out at Wigmore.
What you would be doing
- ✓ Working alongside GPs, district nurses and multidisciplinary teams
- ✓ Supporting and supervising care and support staff on shift
- ✓ Accurate record keeping and handover
- ✓ Assessing, planning and reviewing care for the people you look after
- ✓ Medication administration and clinical observations
- ✓ Wound care, catheter care and other clinical tasks within your competence
Shifts, and how they are booked
Days, nights and weekends are all available, full time or part time. Someone covering Bramingham on earlies and High Town on nights is an ordinary week here. The aim is ongoing work in settings you already know, not a different address every week between Stopsley and Round Green.
Some people stay on agency indefinitely; others use a few months around Bury Park to find the right permanent home. Both are fine.
What we look for
- ✓Experience in community, elderly or end-of-life care is desirable, but not essential
- ✓An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
- ✓Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
- ✓The right to work in the UK
- ✓Excellent clinical and communication skills
