Nurse roles in Watford
If you are an NMC-registered nurse living in or near Watford, we would like to hear from you. Protocol Healthcare Services supplies nurses to community and healthcare settings across the UK, on temporary contracts, permanent contracts, or a mix of the two while you work out what suits.
Where the work is in Watford
Watford General Hospital is the hospital local teams work alongside, and the homes and services around Cassiobury and Holywell draw staff from the same pool. West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust runs services locally, with Hertfordshire County Council commissioning the social care alongside them.
Most placements are in Cassiobury, Nascot Wood and Holywell, with regular work further out at Oxhey, Callowland and Leggatts. Postings run through WD17, WD18 and WD19, including out at Garston.
The job day to day
- ✓ Assessing, planning and reviewing care for the people you look after
- ✓ Medication administration and clinical observations
- ✓ Wound care, catheter care and other clinical tasks within your competence
- ✓ Working alongside GPs, district nurses and multidisciplinary teams
- ✓ Supporting and supervising care and support staff on shift
- ✓ Accurate record keeping and handover
When you would work
Days, nights and weekends are all available, full time or part time. Someone covering Callowland on earlies and Leggatts on nights is an ordinary week here. The aim is ongoing work in settings you already know, not a different address every week between Cassiobury and Leavesden.
Some people stay on agency indefinitely; others use a few months around Holywell to find the right permanent home. Both are fine.
Before you apply
- ✓Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
- ✓The right to work in the UK
- ✓Excellent clinical and communication skills
- ✓Experience in community, elderly or end-of-life care is desirable, but not essential
- ✓An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
Working with Protocol
You get one consultant who knows your registration, your patch and which Hertfordshire services you have already worked in. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Watford itself, which we would rather say plainly.
Bushey, Stanmore and Pinner are close enough that plenty of our people work across them and Watford both.
Let us know your hours and how far you will travel from Cassiobury, and we will do the rest. There are immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Call 020 8951 4510 or use the contact form.
Nurse Jobs in Watford, answered
You need current NMC registration and the right to work in the UK. Experience in community, elderly or end-of-life care is desirable but not essential, and we will talk through which settings around Watford suit your background.
Day, night and weekend shifts, on full-time and part-time patterns. You set your availability and we work to it. Once you are established we can offer regular ongoing shifts rather than one-offs.
Both. We recruit for temporary and permanent positions, and many people start on agency shifts around Watford before moving into a permanent post once they have found a service that suits them.
Across nursing homes, residential services, supported living, community teams and NHS settings. In practice that means Cassiobury, Nascot Wood, Holywell, Oxhey and Callowland, covering WD17, WD18, WD19 and WD24, and out into Hertfordshire. Watford General Hospital is the main hospital in the area.
We have immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Once your registration, right-to-work and DBS checks are in place, shifts can usually follow quickly. Call 020 8951 4510 or send us your details to get started.
