Nurse roles in Kingston upon Thames

If you are an NMC-registered nurse living in or near Kingston upon Thames, we would like to hear from you. Working around Kingston upon Thames

Kingston Hospital is the hospital local teams work alongside, and the homes and services around Kingston town centre and Canbury draw staff from the same pool. Richmond NHS Foundation Trust runs services locally, with Kingston Council commissioning the social care alongside them.

Most placements are in Kingston town centre, Norbiton and Canbury, with regular work further out at Surbiton, Berrylands and New Malden. Postings run through KT1, KT9 and KT2, including out at Worcester Park.

A typical shift

  • Assessing, planning and reviewing care for the people you look after
  • Medication administration and clinical observations
  • Wound care, catheter care and other clinical tasks within your competence
  • Working alongside GPs, district nurses and multidisciplinary teams
  • Supporting and supervising care and support staff on shift
  • Accurate record keeping and handover

Shifts and contracts

Days, nights and weekends are all available, full time or part time. Someone covering Berrylands on earlies and New Malden on nights is an ordinary week here. The aim is ongoing work in settings you already know, not a different address every week between Kingston town centre and Old Malden.

Some people stay on agency indefinitely; others use a few months around Canbury to find the right permanent home. Both are fine.

What you will need

  • Experience in community, elderly or end-of-life care is desirable, but not essential
  • An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
  • The right to work in the UK
  • Excellent clinical and communication skills
