Nurse roles in Great Yarmouth

Protocol Healthcare Services is looking for dedicated, compassionate and professional Registered Nurses to work in and around Great Yarmouth. We place nurses on both agency and permanent contracts, so whether you want to pick up shifts around other commitments or move into a settled post, there is a route for you.

Where the work is in Great Yarmouth

Work comes up near Gorleston-on-Sea, Caister-on-Sea and Bradwell, much of it within reach of James Paget University Hospital. Between James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Norfolk County Council, most of what we staff around Hopton-on-Sea sits under one of the two.

Shifts land right across the patch: Gorleston-on-Sea, Caister-on-Sea and Bradwell one week, Hopton-on-Sea, Belton and Cobholm the next. If you are based around NR30 or NR31, you are inside the area we cover most heavily.

The job day to day

  • Wound care, catheter care and other clinical tasks within your competence
  • Working alongside GPs, district nurses and multidisciplinary teams
  • Supporting and supervising care and support staff on shift
  • Accurate record keeping and handover
  • Assessing, planning and reviewing care for the people you look after
  • Medication administration and clinical observations

When you would work

Full-time and part-time patterns both work. If Cobholm is easier for you to reach than Southtown, say so and the rota follows it. Once you are established we keep the work regular rather than sporadic, usually in the same two or three services around Southtown.

We recruit for temporary and permanent posts. Trying several settings between Gorleston-on-Sea and Hopton-on-Sea first tends to make the permanent choice obvious.

Before you apply

  • Experience in community, elderly or end-of-life care is desirable, but not essential
  • An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
  • The right to work in the UK
  • Excellent clinical and communication skills

Working with Protocol

We are a two-office team, not a call centre. The person booking your Norfolk shifts knows which settings suit you. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Great Yarmouth itself, which we would rather say plainly.

If you can travel, there is steady work in Norwich, Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds as well, and many people cover two of those alongside Great Yarmouth.

Tell us which parts of Norfolk you can reach and we will match you to what is open. There are immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Call 020 8951 4510 or use the contact form.
