Healthcare Assistant roles in Wandsworth

Healthcare Assistant work in Wandsworth is one of the most direct ways into a career in care. Protocol Healthcare Services recruits HCAs for temporary and permanent positions, with full training provided and a consultant who knows which settings suit you.

Where you would be based in Wandsworth

St George's Hospital is the hospital local teams work alongside, and the homes and services around Wandsworth Town and Battersea draw staff from the same pool. St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust runs services locally, with Wandsworth Borough Council commissioning the social care alongside them.

Most placements are in Wandsworth Town, Putney and Battersea, with regular work further out at Tooting, Balham and Earlsfield. Postings run through SW11, SW12 and SW15, including out at Roehampton.

What the role involves

  • Taking and recording clinical observations under supervision
  • Companionship, conversation and keeping people connected
  • Reporting changes and keeping clear records
  • Helping people wash, dress and stay comfortable
  • Supporting with meals, drinks and nutrition
  • Assisting with mobility and safe moving and handling

Hours, shifts and contracts

Days, nights and weekends are all available, full time or part time. Someone covering Balham on earlies and Earlsfield on nights is an ordinary week here. The aim is ongoing work in settings you already know, not a different address every week between Wandsworth Town and Southfields.

Some people stay on agency indefinitely; others use a few months around Battersea to find the right permanent home. Both are fine.

Who we are looking for

  • Previous care experience is welcome but not essential, as training is provided
  • An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
  • The right to work in the UK
  • A caring, patient and reliable approach
  • Good spoken and written communication

Why people stay with us

You get one consultant who knows your registration, your patch and which London services you have already worked in. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Wandsworth itself, which we would rather say plainly.

Hammersmith, Lambeth and Merton are close enough that plenty of our people work across them and Wandsworth both.

Let us know your hours and how far you will travel from Wandsworth Town, and we will do the rest. There are immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Call 020 8951 4510 or use the contact form.
