Healthcare Assistant roles in Chesterfield

Protocol Healthcare Services places Healthcare Assistants in and around Chesterfield, on agency shifts and in permanent roles. You do not need years of experience to start: what matters most is reliability, patience and a genuine interest in the people you look after.

Working around Chesterfield

Work comes up near Brampton, Hasland and Newbold, much of it within reach of Chesterfield Royal Hospital. Between Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Derbyshire County Council, most of what we staff around Whittington sits under one of the two.

Shifts land right across the patch: Brampton, Hasland and Newbold one week, Whittington, Old Whittington and Spital the next. If you are based around S40 or S41, you are inside the area we cover most heavily.

A typical shift

  • Assisting with mobility and safe moving and handling
  • Taking and recording clinical observations under supervision
  • Companionship, conversation and keeping people connected
  • Reporting changes and keeping clear records
  • Helping people wash, dress and stay comfortable
  • Supporting with meals, drinks and nutrition

Shifts and contracts

Full-time and part-time patterns both work. If Spital is easier for you to reach than Walton, say so and the rota follows it. Once you are established we keep the work regular rather than sporadic, usually in the same two or three services around Walton.

We recruit for temporary and permanent posts. Trying several settings between Brampton and Whittington first tends to make the permanent choice obvious.

What you will need

  • Good spoken and written communication
  • Previous care experience is welcome but not essential, as training is provided
  • An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
  • The right to work in the UK
  • A caring, patient and reliable approach

How we work with you

We are a two-office team, not a call centre. The person booking your Derbyshire shifts knows which settings suit you. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Chesterfield itself, which we would rather say plainly.

If you can travel, there is steady work in Sheffield, Mansfield and Rotherham as well, and many people cover two of those alongside Chesterfield.

Tell us which parts of Derbyshire you can reach and we will match you to what is open. There are immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Call 020 8951 4510 or use the contact form.
