Support Worker roles in Chesterfield

Support Worker roles in Chesterfield cover a lot of ground: supported living, mental health services, learning disability support and community teams. Protocol Healthcare Services places people on agency shifts and in permanent posts across all of it.

Where the work is in Chesterfield

Chesterfield Royal Hospital is the hospital local teams work alongside, and the homes and services around Brampton and Newbold draw staff from the same pool. Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust runs services locally, with Derbyshire County Council commissioning the social care alongside them.

Most placements are in Brampton, Hasland and Newbold, with regular work further out at Whittington, Old Whittington and Spital. Postings run through S40 and S41, including out at Holme Hall.

The job day to day

  • Supporting people with daily routines and personal care where needed
  • Encouraging independence, choice and everyday decision making
  • Supporting people to access work, education, activities and their community
  • Positive behaviour support and de-escalation, with training provided
  • Medication prompting and support appropriate to your training
  • Accurate notes and clear communication with the wider team

When you would work

Days, nights and weekends are all available, full time or part time. Someone covering Old Whittington on earlies and Spital on nights is an ordinary week here. The aim is ongoing work in settings you already know, not a different address every week between Brampton and Walton.

Some people stay on agency indefinitely; others use a few months around Newbold to find the right permanent home. Both are fine.

Before you apply

  • Patience, resilience and respect for the people you support
  • Good communication skills
  • Experience in mental health or learning disability support is desirable, not essential
  • An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
  • The right to work in the UK

Working with Protocol

You get one consultant who knows your registration, your patch and which Derbyshire services you have already worked in. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Chesterfield itself, which we would rather say plainly.

Sheffield, Mansfield and Rotherham are close enough that plenty of our people work across them and Chesterfield both.

Let us know your hours and how far you will travel from Brampton, and we will do the rest. There are immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Call 020 8951 4510 or use the contact form.
