Healthcare Assistant roles in Camden

Healthcare Assistant work in Camden is one of the most direct ways into a career in care. Protocol Healthcare Services recruits HCAs for temporary and permanent positions, with full training provided and a consultant who knows which settings suit you.

Where the work is in Camden

Royal Free Hospital is the hospital local teams work alongside, and the homes and services around Camden Town and Hampstead draw staff from the same pool. Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust runs services locally, with Camden Council commissioning the social care alongside them.

Most placements are in Camden Town, Kentish Town and Hampstead, with regular work further out at Belsize Park, Gospel Oak and Dartmouth Park. Postings run through NW1, NW3 and NW5, including out at Somers Town.

The job day to day

  • Helping people wash, dress and stay comfortable
  • Supporting with meals, drinks and nutrition
  • Assisting with mobility and safe moving and handling
  • Taking and recording clinical observations under supervision
  • Companionship, conversation and keeping people connected
  • Reporting changes and keeping clear records

When you would work

Days, nights and weekends are all available, full time or part time. Someone covering Gospel Oak on earlies and Dartmouth Park on nights is an ordinary week here. The aim is ongoing work in settings you already know, not a different address every week between Camden Town and King's Cross.

Some people stay on agency indefinitely; others use a few months around Hampstead to find the right permanent home. Both are fine.

Before you apply

  • Good spoken and written communication
  • Previous care experience is welcome but not essential, as training is provided
  • An enhanced DBS check, which we can arrange
  • The right to work in the UK
  • A caring, patient and reliable approach

Working with Protocol

You get one consultant who knows your registration, your patch and which London services you have already worked in. We recruit from our offices in Edgware and Bournemouth and place people nationwide; there is no branch in Camden itself, which we would rather say plainly.

Islington, Westminster and Hendon are close enough that plenty of our people work across them and Camden both.

Let us know your hours and how far you will travel from Camden Town, and we will do the rest. There are immediate opportunities for suitable candidates. Call 020 8951 4510 or use the contact form.
